Buying guide: Auto & Transportation from China
Major exporters hold DOT registration and mold the DOT code on every tire; ask for the plant code and test reports (FMVSS 139). Note that passenger and light-truck tires from China carry AD/CVD duties — confirm the current rate for landed cost.
Give OE part numbers and year/make/model. Ask for interchange lists and fitment data; order samples for test fitting. Reputable suppliers run IATF 16949 systems and provide PPAP documents on request.
E-bikes must meet CPSC 16 CFR 1512 and, in practice, UL 2849 for the electrical system (required by NYC and many retailers). Batteries need UN38.3. Motors over 750 W or speeds over 28 mph change the legal class in most states.
