New Energy manufacturers in China

China manufactures over 80% of the world’s solar modules, most lithium cells and the majority of inverters and EV chargers. Clusters: Changzhou, Hefei and Xi’an for modules; Ningde, Huizhou and Hefei for batteries; Hefei, Shenzhen and Suzhou for inverters. US importers must navigate Section 201/301 tariffs, AD/CVD cases and UFLPA (forced-labour) traceability requirements, so documentation matters as much as price.

Buying guide: New Energy from China

Yes, but tariffs and trade cases change frequently. Many manufacturers ship from Southeast Asian plants to reduce duties. Request a full polysilicon traceability package (UFLPA compliance) and confirm UL 61730 listing and Tier-1 status (BloombergNEF) if financing requires it.

Batteries: UL 1973 (stationary), UL 9540/9540A (systems), UN38.3 for transport. Inverters: UL 1741 with SA/SB for grid interconnection, IEEE 1547-2018, and CEC listing for California. EV chargers: UL 2594 and Energy Star; OCPP 1.6J for networked units.

As Class 9 dangerous goods by sea, with UN38.3 test summary, MSDS and proper UN-approved packaging. Air freight is restricted. Factor DG surcharges into landed cost.
