Buying guide: Rubber & Plastics from China

Send 3D files (STEP), resin spec, annual volume and target cavitation. Expect DFM feedback in 3–5 days, T1 samples in 25–45 days. Specify mold steel (P20 for <500k shots, H13/S136 for high volume or clear parts), hot-runner brand and guaranteed shot life in the contract. Mold ownership transfers to you on final payment — put it in writing.

Ask for FDA 21 CFR 177 compliance, LFGB or EU 10/2011 reports, BPA-free statements and, for toys, CPSIA/ASTM F963 phthalate testing by a CPSC-accepted lab.

Compression-molded rubber: 1,000–5,000 pcs; silicone products: 500–2,000 pcs; extruded profiles: 500–1,000 m. Tooling US$500–3,000 per part.
