Buying guide: Textiles & Leather from China
Send a swatch or spec (composition, weight in gsm, width, construction, finish). Mills quote per meter or kg with MOQ of 1,000–3,000 m per color for stock bases, more for custom yarn-dyed. Lab dips take 7–10 days; bulk 30–45 days.
Fiber-content and care labels per FTC rules; flammability (16 CFR 1610) for apparel fabrics; 16 CFR 1633 for mattress materials; CPSIA for children’s products. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and GOTS/GRS certificates are useful marketing assets.
US Customs detains cotton goods suspected of Xinjiang origin. Ask mills for cotton origin documentation (US, Brazil, Australia or certified non-Xinjiang Chinese cotton) and full supply-chain traceability.
